2000
years of history around the last in date of the great Norman romanesque abbeys.
Nested in the Seine valley, alongside the Roumare Forest, Saint-Martin
de Boscherville offers an opportunity of visit and strolling rich
in history as well as in landscape.
The Benedictine Abbey was built early 12th century on a site where several edifices
dedicated first to pagan worship, then later to christian
culte, had followed one another since first century before
Christ
The Chapter House, end of 12th century offers a remarkable sight of statue-columns and historiated capitals; the monastery building erected by the Maurist monks has retained its attractive stone voulting.

The Abbey Church of pure Norman style impresses by the harmony of its architectural lines and proportions and also its great luminosity.

Since
1987, the Estate has given the sight of restoration works impressive
by their importance and quality.
These works are financed by Europe, the State, the Region, with,
among other things, the activity of social working sites using long-term
unemployed (surrounding walls, gardens, etc..).
Emotion
unceasingly renewed will accompany the visitor up to the gardens
restored according to plans and documents of archives dating 17th
century.
From these gardens, one also discovers a panoramic
sight on the Seine valley and the whole Abbey estate,
the green cloister adding an original note.
