Chamberlains’ chapel

On the outside of the abbey church, please note the remains of the dwelling built for their own personal use by the Tancarville family, the abbey's founders and protectors, which stands on the northern edge of the estate. Their private quarters adjoined a 13th century chapel, with a wooden vault in the shape of a ship’s hull, which was restored. Services there were taken by an independent chaplain from the Abbey.
