Every year in spring time, pupils and children from Day Camps are asked to design and make scarecrows, which will be exhibited in the abbey gardens from April to September, as part of a competition.
The theme varies from one year to the next. At the end of May, visitors give every scarecrow marks and prizes are awarded to the winners. The scarecrows remain in the gardens, bringing them to life, throughout the rest of the season.
